About the Role
The Company is a grassroots organization dedicated to ending racial profiling, police brutality, and injustice within the criminal legal system. They are currently seeking passionate individuals to join their Board of Directors. Board members play a crucial role in providing strategic leadership, governance, and oversight to ensure the organization's mission is fulfilled and its financial sustainability is maintained. The ideal candidates will have experience in event planning, finance and accounting, fundraising and development, human resources, and marketing and public relations. Key responsibilities for board members include active participation in meetings, providing input on strategic decisions, overseeing budgets and finances, supporting the President/CEO, and serving as ambassadors for the organization's mission and values. Applicants for the Board of Directors at the company should have a strong commitment to the organization's mission and values, with the ability to dedicate time to meetings and events. While not mandatory, prior experience in leadership, governance, or nonprofit management, as well as a background in activism and community engagement, is preferred. The role requires individuals with strong strategic thinking, decision-making skills, financial literacy, and an understanding of nonprofit budgeting and fundraising. Board members are also expected to contribute to fundraising efforts, assess board performance, and participate in recruitment.
