Job Description

We have an opening for a Meat Manager at our Lake City, MN, location. As a critical member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful operation of the meat department, which will maximize sales and gross profits. The Meat Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the meat department to ensure the highest standards of quality, freshness, and customer service. This role involves managing inventory, supervising staff, ensuring food safety compliance, and optimizing departmental profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Department Operations:

    • Plan, order, and maintain inventory to meet customer demand while minimizing waste.
    • Ensure proper product rotation, labeling, and merchandising.
    • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all meat department areas and equipment.
  • Team Leadership:

    • Supervise staff in the meat department.
    • Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback.
    • Foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Customer Service:

    • Assist customers with product selection, special orders, and address any questions they may have.
    • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through exceptional service and high-quality products.
  • Compliance & Safety:

    • Adhere to all local, state, and federal food safety and sanitation regulations.
    • Ensure proper use and maintenance of cutting tools and machinery.
  • Financial Management:

    • Monitor sales, labor, and shrinkage to ensure department goals are met or exceeded.
    • Execute merchandising plans and promotional strategies to drive sales.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in meat cutting or food safety is a plus.
  • Experience in the meat department operations or retail department operations, 
  • Strong knowledge of meat cuts, preparation, and storage is preferred but not required, as we can provide training. 
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to consistently lift up to 60 lbs and stand for extended periods.
