Position Overview:

The Student Orientation Specialist for the Office of Student Affairs supports the educational mission of the medical school for MD and PA students. Responsibilities include supporting programs that enhance student experience and development, such as career planning, student engagement, mentorship, wellness programs, and administrative support for senior staff. The role involves communication across various systems, collaboration with multiple stakeholders, and supporting student engagement activities, milestones, and advocacy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Recommends policies impacting student services.
  • Implements projects to foster student success.
  • Manages appointments, meetings, and requests efficiently.
  • Tracks financial transactions related to student activities.
  • Assists with milestone events, wellness, and career support services.
  • Serves as liaison between students and senior staff.
  • Manages the MSPE process and updates related documents.
  • Oversees student inductions, medical clearances, and office maintenance.
  • Manages medical student absences and special considerations.
  • Supports emergency contact management and student placements.
  • Participates in meetings and supports student conduct processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently and collaboratively with strong organizational skills.


Minimum Education & Experience:

Bachelor's Degree required. No prior work experience necessary; relevant experience accepted in lieu of education. Certifications: None required.

Clearances:

Requires PA State Police, Child Abuse, and FBI background checks. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. as Penn State does not sponsor visas.

Salary & Benefits:

Range: $46,400 - $67,300. Includes medical, dental, vision, retirement, paid time off, and a 75% tuition discount for employees and eligible family members.
